Bob O’Brien joined Calgon Carbon in 1973 and has subsequently held a number of technical, sales and marketing management positions in the U.S. and Europe. He was promoted to Senior Vice President, Engineered Solutions in 1999.  In that position he was responsible for sales, marketing, design and manufacturing of systems that utilize technologies in carbon adsorption, ultraviolet light and advanced ion exchange separation.  He also directed the Company’s information technology group.

In 2002, Bob was named Senior Vice President, Global Business Development, with responsibilities for acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships and alliances. In 2004, he spearheaded the $35.3 million acquisition of Waterlink Specialty Products, a leading provider of products, services and equipment related to activated carbon. Bob was also responsible for the company’s ultraviolet light division, new product development and the marketing and sales of Calgon Carbon’s consumer products.

In 2005 he was named Senior Vice President, Americas.  In this position, Bob had responsibility for all manufacturing facilities in the U.S., as well as marketing and sales of all Calgon Carbon products and services in North and South America. 

As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Bob has responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Calgon Carbon worldwide.

Bob holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
