The Calgon Carbon Corporation senior leadership team is comprised of highly-effective executives who are visionaries in the industry and support Calgon Carbon's employees to continually create new technologies, expand service capabilities and create process improvements.
Randall S. Dearth - President and Chief Executive Officer
Since 2004, Mr. Dearth has served as the president and CEO of LANXESS Corporation, an international chemical manufacturer that was spun out of the Bayer Group. From 2002 until the carve-out of LANXESS, he was the president and CEO of Bayer Chemicals Corporation. Mr. Dearth started his career with Bayer in 1988 and held various positions within the company including sales, marketing, product management and applications development.
Mr. Dearth holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Hiram College and an M.S. in Polymer Science and Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
Robert P. O'Brien - Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Bob O'Brien joined Calgon Carbon in 1973 and has subsequently held a number of technical, sales and marketing management positions in the U.S. and Europe. He was promoted to senior vice president, engineered solutions in 1999. In that position he was responsible for sales, marketing, design and manufacturing of systems that utilize technologies in carbon adsorption, ultraviolet light and advanced ion exchange separation. He also directed the company's information technology group.
In 2002, Bob was named senior vice president, global business development, with responsibilities for acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships and alliances. In 2004, he spearheaded the $35.3 million acquisition of Waterlink Specialty Products, a leading provider of products, services and equipment related to activated carbon. Bob was also responsible for the company's ultraviolet light division, new product development and the marketing and sales of Calgon Carbon's consumer products.
In 2005 he was named senior vice president, Americas. In this position, Bob had responsibility for all manufacturing facilities in the U.S., as well as marketing and sales of all Calgon Carbon products and services in North and South America.
As executive vice president and chief operating officer, Bob has responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Calgon Carbon worldwide.
Bob holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
Stevan R. Schott - Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Steve Schott joined Calgon Carbon in 2007 as executive director of finance. In 2008 he was promoted to vice president of finance and was responsible for the company's U.S. and Asia accounting, tax, treasury, planning, and risk management functions, as well as all external financial reporting. In 2010 he was promoted to vice president, chief financial officer with responsibility for all corporate financial functions.
Prior to joining Calgon Carbon, Steve spent eight years at Duquesne Light Holdings Inc., a conglomerate whose primary business was electric energy. During his eight-year tenure, he held various positions including controller, vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Steve also spent 15 years at Deloitte & Touche where he was a senior manager in the Auditing practice.
Reinier Keijzer - Vice President, Europe
Reinier Keijzer joined Chemviron Carbon, Calgon Carbon's European branch, in 2002 as its finance director and also had responsibility for business development and information technology. He was promoted to vice president - finance in 2010, assuming the added responsibility for human resources.
Prior to joining Chemviron Carbon, Reinier held the positions of business unit controller, inks and coatings and financial controller for Arizona Chemical B.V., a division of International Paper. He also served as corporate controller at Unichema International in the Netherlands.
Reinier earned an International Executive Master of Finance and Control from the University of Amsterdam/Maastricht and a Master in Commercial and Financial Sciences from Antwerp Business School. He is also a Dutch Chartered Controller.
Allan Singleton - Vice President, Asia
Allan Singleton has been with Chemviron Carbon since 2004, when Calgon Carbon acquired Waterlink Specialty Products, which included Sutcliffe Speakman, a provider of activated carbon. Allan joined Sutcliffe Speakman in 1993 and held positions of increasing responsibility, including managing director.
He began his career at Chemviron Carbon as its business development director and also served in that position for Calgon Carbon's Asia region. He is currently chairman of the company's Asia business team.
Allan is a graduate of Preston Polytechnic, University of Central Lancashire.
Gail A. Gerono - Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications
Gail Gerono is currently Calgon Carbon's vice president investor relations and corporate communications. Gail joined Calgon Carbon in 1990 as manager, investor relations with responsibility for managing the company's relationship with the investment community -- both individual and institutional investors. In 1993, she was promoted to director, investor relations and communications, and her responsibilities were expanded to include all corporate communications, both internal and external. She also serves as the official spokesperson for Calgon Carbon.
Prior to joining Calgon Carbon, Ms. Gerono was director, investor relations at Dravo Corporation (now Carmeuse) for 12 years. She also served as assistant secretary of the corporation and secretary of the corporate contributions committee.
Ms. Gerono holds an M.B.A. from Duquesne University and a B.A. in French from Mercyhurst University. She is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute and past president of the Pittsburgh chapter.
Richard D. Rose - Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Richard D. Rose (Rick) joined Calgon Carbon as vice president, secretary and general counsel in September 2009. Rick is the company's chief legal officer and corporate secretary.
Rick has been a practicing lawyer since 1988. Prior to joining Calgon Carbon, Rick was a shareholder in the Pittsburgh office of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, PC where his practice included general corporate counseling, federal securities and mergers and acquisitions. Before becoming a lawyer, Rick was an auditor with an international public accounting firm.
Rick earned a B.S. in accounting from the Pennsylvania State University and a J.D. (cum laude) from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
