Reactivation Services
When granular activated carbon’s adsorption capacity is exhausted, it can be returned to Calgon Carbon for recycling by thermal reactivation. In the reactivation process, the spent carbon is subjected to high-temperature remanufacturing conditions that destroy the adsorbed organics and assure the activated carbon is returned to usable quality. This recycling is conducted at several locations throughout the world. There are different options for the reactivation services including:
- Pooled reactivation, where the reactivated carbon is returned to a general liquid phase carbon or vapor phase carbon pool and the client is supplied replacement product from the respective pool.
- Reactivation of spent carbon with virgin carbon supply.
- Custom reactivation where the client’s spent carbon is segregated from all others throughout the reactivation process. The custom reactivated product is returned to the client in bulk or packaged form.
- Food Grade Reactivation, where the client’s spent carbon from drinking water applications or other food grade product purification application is segregated and thermally reactivated in a furnace where no co-mixing with industrial spent carbons can cross-contaminate the food grade reactivated carbon.
