PITTSBURGH, PA  –  09/17/2002

Calgon Carbon Corporation (NYSE: CCC) announced today that it expects sales and earnings for the third quarter of 2002 to show a slight improvement over the third quarter of 2001. For the third quarter of 2001, the company reported sales of $64.7 million and earnings per share of $0.04.
